Church History
This congregation was established in 1872. The church was named for Captain Naylor, who was prominently connected with the old Atlantic and Gulf Railroad. Services were first held in a log cabin which also served as a schoolhouse. Riley R. Fender, a veteran, was the first member. Private Fender was blinded during the war but served the congregation as Sunday School superintendent for 40 years. Around 1879, the first church building was constructed on land donated by Asa Rooks.   In the early 1900s the original structure burned and the present structure was subsequently built on the previously used site. In 1957, Stockton Methodist Church merged with Naylor and the Stockton sanctuary was razed. On May 24, 2021 the church disaffiliated from the United Methodist Church becoming Naylor Community Christian Church.
